La première étape importante dans la lutte contre les allergies consiste à découvrir à quoi vous êtes allergique. Dès l'apparition des symptômes d'allergie, dirigez-vous vers un médecin ou un allergologue pour identifier ce qui a déclenché la réaction. Le test cutané d'allergie est un moyen sûr et facile pour eux de découvrir et de confirmer les allergènes qui ont provoqué la réaction allergique, et il peut être effectué sur les enfants et les adultes.
Les symptômes d'allergie courants qui peuvent nécessiter que vous subissiez un test cutané d'allergie comprennent : des démangeaisons dans les yeux, le nez, la gorge et la peau, le nez qui coule, les yeux larmoyants, les sinus bloqués, la toux, les éternuements, l'urticaire, l'eczéma, la congestion nasale et l'anaphylaxie dans cas sévères.
Grâce à des tests d'allergie, vous pourrez découvrir à quelles substances particulières vous pourriez être allergique. Les allergènes utilisés dans les tests cutanés d'allergie comprennent les acariens, le pollen, les squames et poils d'animaux, le venin d'insectes, le latex de caoutchouc naturel, les composants alimentaires et les médicaments.
Il existe trois types de tests d'allergie effectués :
Scratch Test ou également connu sous le nom de test de piqûre ou de perforation, dans lequel votre médecin placera une goutte de divers allergènes, généralement sur l'avant-bras ou le dos. Une aiguille stérile est utilisée pour piquer la peau afin d'introduire l'allergène. Une réaction ou son absence déterminera si vous êtes allergique à la substance.
Le test cutané intradermique est similaire au test de grattage, mais au lieu de piquer la peau, l'allergène est injecté sous la peau à l'aide d'une seringue. La réaction de votre peau déterminera si vous y êtes allergique ou non. Cette méthode est généralement utilisée pour tester les allergies aux venins d'insectes et aux médicaments.
Les résultats des tests cutanés sont immédiatement évalués car les réactions apparaissent généralement quelques minutes après l'administration du test. Il est également important de ne prendre aucun médicament avant le test car cela pourrait interférer avec les résultats.
Les tests cutanés sont-ils sûrs ? Il peut y avoir une légère irritation causée par une réaction allergique positive, mais elle est totalement sûre lorsqu'elle est effectuée correctement.
Lorsque l'identification des allergènes par test cutané n'est pas possible pour plusieurs raisons, telles que le patient souffre d'une affection cutanée grave ou s'il prend des médicaments, un test sanguin d'allergie peut être utilisé à la place.
Un échantillon de sang est prélevé et envoyé au laboratoire pour des tests avec divers allergènes. Les tests sanguins peuvent prendre quelques jours avant que les résultats puissent être obtenus et cela coûte également plus cher que les tests cutanés.
Un test sanguin d'allergie connu est le test sanguin d'immunoglobuline E (IgE) spécifique de l'allergène. Une réaction allergique se produit lorsque le système immunitaire est soumis à des allergènes et y réagit de manière excessive. Le corps perçoit les allergènes comme une menace et signale le besoin de protection à notre système immunitaire, produisant ainsi des anticorps appelés immunoglobuline E.
Les résultats de votre test identifieront vos allergènes afin que vous sachiez ce qu'il faut éviter à l'avenir. Ces tests sont importants pour faciliter la gestion des allergies lorsque vous êtes exposé à des allergènes.

I haven’t had an allergy test before, I really should do it so I can know what I should avoid. It could be bad if I eat something I am extremely allergic to and didn’t know it. The one I would do is probably the scratch test, because that’s the one I always hear about others getting and how accurate it is.
