Rosacea is a skin condition wherein your cheeks and nose will suddenly turn red when triggered by stress, exposure to sun, exercise, alcohol, spicy foods, hot bath, etc. Oftentimes the redness spreads to other parts of your body and for some people, the sensation can range from itching to painful.
There are many treatments to manage your rosacea. You can take oral antibiotics or medicines that can reduce the redness, or you can use natural means to manage your rosacea.
Rosacea natural treatment
Remember: It’s best to consult your doctor first before you take any medication or natural treatment for your rosacea. Only your doctor will know which treatment would best suit your needs. But if your doctor says that you can choose to use natural means to manage your rosacea then here are some suggestions you might want to use:
Aloe Vera
The gel inside this plant is an effective emollient and moisturizer. You can use that gel and apply it on areas of your body that are reddish and itchy.
Chamomile
Another effective moisturizer, chamomile is often used to treat inflamed skin. You can either buy moisturizers with chamomile included in the ingredients or you can use chamomile tea as your moisturizer or skin wash. If you prefer the latter let the chamomile tea cool first then use the liquid as a skin wash.
Comfrey
This plant produces a chemical called allantoin and this chemical compound is effective in reducing inflammation and redness in the skin.
Green tea
The antioxidants in green tea are effective in reducing inflammation, which is why it’s a popular ingredient in many moisturizers. Some even say that emollients with green tea are the most effective treatments for rosacea.
Oatmeal
Another effective rosacea treatment is oatmeal. Oatmeal is capable of preventing water loss and reducing the itchiness in your skin. You can either purchase some face masks with oatmeal as an ingredient or you can use oatmeal itself, add a little water to it and lather it on affected areas of your skin.
Kanuka honey
This honey that comes from a tree species found in New Zealand is an effective rosacea treatment. Not only is it effective in treating rosacea but it can also be used to treat atopic dermatitis, cold sores, psoriasis, eczema and acne.
These are just some of the rosacea natural treatments you can use if you want to avoid man-made medications.
